From May 24 to June 15, join thousands of party revellers from around Australia and around the world in the Australian cultural capital for the largest light party in the Southern Hemisphere. Here are the top 5 must-sees to experience Vivid in style.
Be dazzled and immerse yourself in a night as the city gets transformed with amazing choreographed light works on iconic architecture from the Sydney Opera House, Harbour Bridge, Luna Park, Custom House to the Darling Harbour that will leave you in awe. Key programmes for the event are divided into light, music and ideas.

For this year, LA-based American-Chinese visual filmmaker, Andrew Thomas Huang is given the honour and commissioned for the light installation on the Opera House’s sails. Teamed with choreographer Toogie Barcelo, dancer Genna Moroni and animation team Bemo, be captivated by Huang’s Austral Floral Ballet as the Opera House iconic roof springs to life featuring native flowers and creatures and people of Australia from the NSW Waratah, kangaroos to the First Nation people.

Getting There: Visit during the weekdays to avoid the weekend touristy crowds. Enjoy the full view on board one of the harbour cruises which also tend to be cheaper on weekday evenings than the weekends. Book a table in advance at Bennelong restaurant located within the Sydney Opera House and dine on the finest dishes by Australian celebrity chef, Peter Gilmore. If you are up for it, scale the Harbour Bridge with the bridge climb tour for a panoramic view of the projections.

Getting There: Be strategic and don’t be overly ambitious. With so much to see, eat and do, plan out which precincts you would like to cover. Plan out your route and be sure to return over the next couple of nights to cover the rest to fully enjoy all aspects of the event.
